Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is never easy. At Madison Animal Hospital, we offer gentle, compassionate pet euthanasia and end-of-life care—in our hospital. Our team is here to support you through this emotional time with kindness, dignity, and understanding.

Guidance and Support When It Matters Most
End-of-life care is one of the most difficult parts of pet ownership—but you don’t have to face it alone. Our team at Madison Animal Hospital is here to help you navigate this stage with compassion, clarity, and respect for your wishes.
We provide in-hospital pet euthanasia, as well as hospice care to help your pet remain as comfortable and pain-free as possible for as long as they’re with you. When the time comes, we’ll walk you through the process and give you the space and support you need to say goodbye.
We proudly serve families in Madison, Skowhegan, Anson, North Anson, and surrounding Maine communities with end-of-life care that’s centered around peace, comfort, and love.
Hospice & Comfort Care
If your pet is nearing the end of their life but not quite ready to pass, we offer hospice support focused on managing pain, mobility, and comfort. We’ll work with you to monitor your pet’s quality of life and provide medications or supportive care that keeps them as comfortable as possible.
This option can be especially helpful for families who need time to prepare emotionally and practically for their pet’s passing.
In-Hospital Pet Euthanasia
We offer in-hospital euthanasia in a calm, private setting. You’re welcome to stay with your pet during the process, or step away if that feels more comfortable. Our team will be present to gently guide you through each step, answer any questions, and offer space for final goodbyes.
Our goal is to make your pet’s passing as peaceful and stress-free as possible—for both of you.
Pet Burial & Cremation Options
Aftercare is a deeply personal choice. We offer both private and communal cremation options through trusted local partners:
- Private cremation: Your pet’s individual ashes are returned to you.
- Communal cremation: Your pet is cremated with others; ashes are not returned.
As a special keepsake, we also offer clay paw prints for those who wish to have a tangible memory of their beloved companion.
If you’re considering home burial, we can provide guidance to ensure it complies with local regulations and is done safely and respectfully.
If choosing private cremation, you’ll be able to select your preferred urn style when completing the Euthanasia Consent Form.
